Judy, when I lived in Tampa, I went to Plant City frequently. (We boarded our horses there.) It is one of the strawberry hubs in the US. The strawberry farmers there always planted sweet onions in intervals on the rows of strawberries. I was told that the onions were a natural plant to keep away some pests from the strawberry plants. At the end of the season you could buy a flat of strawberries for $6 and also buy the onions. Let me tell you those onions were the best I have ever tasted. They were sweeter and had a slight strawberry flavor. I am not an expert about gardening, so maybe someone else can explain it all.
Also thank you so much for the info about freezing the Meyer Lemons and the recipe. I made a tart yesterday and boy is that easy and delisious! I have a ton of the lemons and have been fixing them for the freezer today. Thank you, thank you!
