Compost is great stuff! I wish I had gotten one of the bins that can be turned. Mine has to be turned with the pitchfork every now and then. I have no manure, so every once and a while, I add a bit of organic compost starter to it to help it break down. I had a stainless steel compost bucket that I kept in the kitchen for food scraps. One day in the summer I took it out to dump the scraps, but was seized with a bout of adult ADD and wandered off to do something else, setting the bucket down on the deck. I found it again the next day. Apparently, it had gotten way too hot out on the deck and the gases in the bucket had worked a strange magic. The entire metal bucket was shredded from top to bottom in the most interesting strips. It was not fun to clean up, but I did and recycled the bucket. I do need to get a new one!
