I really like the printed background on the blocks that are up – and yes, I agree – it adds eye movement – draws your eye towards the “X” of the chain blocks.However if it does make you nervous – you might consider unbleached muslin as a “go with for the remainder blocks since what my computer reads is not white but an off-white – about the shade of unbleached muslin.
Personally though I would stay with the background you have – I think it is great and just THE fabric for the quilt!
