Why is it that third world countries can have decent cell & internet services and our rural service here in the U.S. is such crap? I really think it is protectionism by the old land-line companies who are fighting tooth & nail to not be put out of business by the newer technology, but yet don’t want to spend the money to update their equipment to give us truly good service so they lobby for all kinds of rules and regulations to hamper the newer tech. Our gov’t seems to be all about protecting the profits of big companies over the needs of the consumers so they go along with protecting the old tech.
Just yesterday a friend was telling me that she had switched her plan with Frontier to the digital phone to go along with the internet and satellite TV plan she has. They were supposed to start the digital service, leave the internet & TV alone and disconnect the land-line service. Of course they screwed up and shut off the internet and left the land-line. By mid-afternoon yesterday she had talked to them six times and spent seven hours on the phone (with all the on hold time)over several days. She was upset to say the least. She was on FB today so maybe she got her internet back.
