I have a not-so-expensive set of interchangeables I got at Knitpicks – the rainbow wood ones – and I really love them. Every once in a while, when I’m knitting up a storm, the cable may begin to come a little loose, but it creates a little wobble that’s noticeable before it actually comes apart. I tighten it back up and am good to go again for a long time. I also like having them because sometimes I misjudge the length of the cable I need, and it’s good to be able to change to a shorter one if I’m knitting along and realize that my too-long cable is going to be in my way. I often do this when I start some magic loop socks and have picked a cable that’s too long. I need to get back to my knitting. I’ve got about half of the back of a nice warm cardigan going and I’d really like to wear it this winter. I think I’ll get it out and knit tonight. Thanks, Judy! You’re a good motivator.
